Hey friend,

Hope you’re having a great start to the new year!

There’s one thing I’ve been thinking a lot about lately: how do we make being a web designer less lonely?

Aside from responding to client requests, so much of what we do is in isolation.

Most days we sit down, pop our headphones in, sip a coffee, and live within our brains for 8+ hours a day.

Ideas ping ponging around with no external feedback or validation.

It’s hard to read the label from inside the jar.

You can interact & post in various Facebook groups or X communities, but you never really make meaningful personal connections there either.

Maybe it doesn’t have to be this way.

Many of my best projects have come from meeting new people.

In fact, I once accidentally picked up a $100k client while hanging out in a treehouse on a ranch somewhere in Texas during a business bootcamp.

That’s why I wanted to throw an idea out there that I was hoping to get your feedback on.

It’s called NewPulse Labs Masterminds™.

(Just kidding, there’s no actual trademark).

Here’s how it’d work:

  • If you’re interested, you’d fill out an application form.
  • I steal Tinder’s matchmaking algorithm, and start meticulously putting together groups of 6-8 that would mesh well.
  • This would take into consideration where you’re located, where you’re at in your business, what your hobbies outside of work are, and what you’d be looking for in a mastermind.
  • Your group would meet via Zoom every ~2 weeks with a set time and agenda.

The details aren’t set in stone. We’d experiment to see what works best for each group.

All that matters is that you get as much value out of the mastermind as possible.

Here’s what you’d get out of it:

  • Solve challenges faster: No more feeling stuck on a problem.
  • Grow your agency: Get feedback from the group on how to attract more clients and work on projects you love.
  • Level-up your skillset: You’ll always be learning something new as other people share their experiences and suggestions.
  • Stay accountable: Accomplish your goals in 2024, not 2030.
  • Expand your network: You never know where new connections might lead.
  • Make new friends: Meet fellow creatives/nerds that you can chat about both your favorite fonts and electric cars with.

Is this something you’d be interested in?

If so, let me know here.

It’s only something I’ll put together if there are enough people interested.

And it’ll probably take ~50 applicants per one strong group.

So again, just sign your name here if it’s something you’d genuinely be interested in and would be willing to pay for.

Otherwise I’ll take this idea out back and move on to the next 🙂

Take care!

Sunny

P.S. Feel free to share it with anyone else who you think might be interested.
